Food prices in most supermarkets are about the same as in the US, but eating out is much less expensive due to lower labor and rent costs. The best place to shop for fruits and vegetables is Mercado Abastos, a framers market. The produce below cost me $9.25.

My favorite inexpensive restaurant is Delicias Canton. $3.25 cafeteria style with lots of variety and good salads.
